President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov and President of Tajikistan Imamali Rahman had a telephone conversation on the tension on the Kyrgyz-Tajik border.
Voicepress reports that tensions at the border were discussed in detail during the telephone conversation. It was decided to hold a meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission on delimitation and demarcation of the Kyrgyz-Tajik border in Batken region on May 1. In the second half of May, it was decided to hold a meeting of the heads of state in Dushanbe.
As of 18:00 today, the death toll on the Kyrgyz-Tajik border has reached 31, with 154 injured.
The statement came from Deputy Health Minister of Kyrgyzstan Aziza Soltanbekova. He said that 121 of the wounded were civilians and 23 were members of law enforcement agencies.
The Deputy Minister said that 6,786 people were evacuated from Ak-Say, Aktatyr, Karabak and Samarkandek villages of Batken region in the conflict zone.
According to Tajik media, eight people were killed and 110 were injured in the clashes.
