Russian President Vladimir Putin is ready to mediate in the settlement of the conflict between Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan.
Voicepress reports that the statement came from Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov.
“Of course, using our contacts in the CSTO and other formats, President Putin has always demonstrated his readiness to mediate in resolving the problem between the countries,” Peskov said.
On April 28, clashes between citizens of Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan continued with firing by border guards. Many people were injured and died as a result of the incident.
A decision has been made to a ceasefire, and a bilateral working group has been set up. However, there are reports of gunfire in some areas.
